Sagatiba is off shopping again...

This Saturday 8th Dec and next Saturday 15th Dec its off to Harvey Nichol's in Manchester for a Sagatiba tasting with Christmas shoppers looking to pick up some cocktail tips for entertaining at home this festive season.

The series continues at Selfridge's, Birmingham on Thurs 13th Dec - giving plenty of opportunity to squeeze in some last minute gifts!

Our new favourite cocktail....

Named after the stunning natural light show that can be seen in the far North and, staying with the Scottish connection, with a touch of Laphriog 10 year old, the Northern Light is a smoky take on the Ketel One martini.

We popped down to Oxo Tower to try one...or two...last night. Created by Ian Goodman of Oxo Tower, the drink is a great winter warmer - the smoky tones are married with hints of warm orange citrus, carried by the soft and rounded Ketel One vodka.

Ingredients:
50ml Ketel One
5ml Laphroig 10 year old
5ml Noilly Prat Ambre vermouth
2 sprays orange bitters

Method:
Stir all the ingredients in a mixing glass over ice. Strain into a frozen cocktail glass and decorate with a flamed orange twist.

GQ and Grazia love Sagatiba!

This week Sagatiba teams up with Grazia for an evening of Christmas shopping and caipirinhas on Carnaby Street....since the area has been a symbol of London-cool for nearly 40 years we've created a fashion inspired Carnaby Caipirinha especially for the event - adding blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and a pinch of all-spice to the classic recipe for winter time.

GQ has named it their cocktail of the month http://www.gqmagazine.co.uk/Going_Out/Cocktails/and we hope the thousands of shopped out Londoner's will love it at the Carnaby event this Thursday 29th.

A busy week ahead....

We rounded last week off nicely with a lunch at Hawksmoor where rum experts such as Dave Broom and Anistatia and Jared Miller gathered to sample the El Dorado range which we look forward to welcoming to inspirit early next year. The 15 year old was a hit, as ever, and we're all really excited about the single barrels which El Dorado has created from ancient wooden Coffey and pot stills.

This week its onto Tequila with the Partida pre-Christmas party taking place tomorrow evening round at 'our house' on Fitzroy Square. Partida in Manchester

Yesterday we are up in Manchester for a day of Partida Tequila training and tasting hosted by Dre Masso of the Worldwide Cocktail Club. We had a fantastic turn out of 26 local bartenders who learned all about the history and production methods of the Tequila category before a blind tasting and lunch Partida Familia style - with sharing plates and plenty of Tequila...big thanks to 235 for being such a fantastic host venue. Thats the final Partida training for 2007 but there will be much more to come in the new year.....
